The Writer's Desk

Writing, publishing & marketing notes from Jamie DeBree & her alter egos

June 14, 2013: Mr. Mysterious

Writing Session 1: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom suspense
Words written:  222
Total Words:  8,913
Time Spent:  15 minutes (break)

Notes: Plot pickle – if this relationship is going to ultimately go anywhere, these two are going to need more time together, and some sort of stability. Big issues looming here as we hit the six month mark…and I have no idea how we’re going to deal with them.

Writing Session 2: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom suspense
Words written:  315
Total Words:  9,228
Time Spent:  15 minutes (break)

Notes: Cat fight! And what the heck is going on with Jodie and Ty? I’m sensing bad mojo for Laura and David here…and a gaping divide that I’m going to have to bridge somehow between this story and the Labor Day story. Dang it. Who’s idea was this holiday serial thing again? Because I swear it’s going to drive me insane before I’m done with it…

Writing Session 3: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom suspense
Words written:  245
Total Words:  9,473
Time Spent:  30 minutes (after work)

Notes: Oh good lord. This is just so stinkin’ sad it’s depressing. This story better not end up where it seems to be heading, or I’m going to have issues with these characters…

Writing Session 4: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom suspense
Words written:  633
Total Words:  10,106
Time Spent:  60 minutes (late night)

Notes: Alrighty then. I finally know where this is going…and I’m betting my readers won’t see it coming (or hopefully not). There’s hope! And actually, hope with about a ton of interesting possibilities. This isn’t quite finished yet, but one more session will get ‘er done.

It’s 12:15am and now that I’ve got that ironed out, I’m shutting down the ‘puter and heading off to bed for some reading time.
