June 18, 2013: English Breakfast & Sprouted

Writing Session 1: English Breakfast
Author/Genre: JD/rom suspense
Words written:  296
Total Words:  8,602
Time Spent:  15 minutes (break)

Notes: Well, at least there’s some action and movement going on now. Patrick needs…a personality transplant. Dang it. Actually, now that I think about it, I like Kane better overall. He’s the tough, strong, silent, get-er-done type. Patrick is just…well, a dork, kind of. Tonight’s plotting session – how to make Patrick more of a man. If that’s possible…but I’m calling this scene done, regardless.

Writing Session 2: Sprouted
Author/Genre: AW/horror
Words written:  413
Total Words:  6,368
Time Spent:  15 minutes (break)

Notes: This isn’t going to end as I’d expected after all…which happens more often than one might think. Still, it’s playing out as it needs to, and that’s the important part…

Writing Session 3: Sprouted
Author/Genre: AW/Horror
Words written:  396
Total Words:  6,764
Time Spent:  30 minutes (after work)

Notes: *sigh* One more longish scene, and this story will be done. Sad, creepy, and far from what I thought it would be, but that’s not a bad thing. Sometimes stories really do work better when you just let them develop organically as they need to. I should start thinking about cover art…

Plotting Session: English Breakfast
Author/Genre(s): JD/Rom Suspense
Time Spent: 1 hour (late night)

Notes: Well that was a bit frustrating. I started building a mind map for EB, and I organized it by character, main plot and romance plot. The romance side is sadly lacking, and it’s due to Patrick’s odd personality and not enough time addressing issues between them. No, I haven’t figured out a fix yet, and it’s late enough that it won’t happen tonight. But annoying as this mind-mapping thing is, I think it will be very helpful for identifying weak spots and figuring out how to fix them. I’ll work on this more later this week…

Now it’s 12:30am, and I’m off to do a bit of reading before bed…
