May 21, 2013: It’s all about Mysterious…

Writing Session #1: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom. Suspense
Words written:  374
Total Words:  1,171 (this installment)
Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes: This
was cruisin’ along pretty well, and then my time was up, dang it.
Hopefully I can get an earlier start on the late-night session tonight,
and maybe finish this up? Each installment has been around 2k words so
far…

Writing Session #2:  English Breakfast
Author/Genre:  JD/Rom. Suspense
Words written:  522
Total Words:   5,520
Time Spent:  20 minutes

Notes: I
was going to keep going, but with the holiday serials due, I’m cutting
this off at just enough for a short scene. With any luck, next week I’ll
have more time to spend on these, but I really need to get the serials
done, so using the rest of this time for Mr. Mysterious…

Writing Session #3:  Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre:  JD/Rom. suspense
Words written:  254
Total Words: 1,425 (this installment)
Time Spent: 20 minutes

Notes: Every
little bit counts…and we’re getting to the juicy part now. I doubt
the rest of this installment will let me doze off tonight…

Writing Session #4:  Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre:
JD/Rom. suspense
Words written:
543
Total Words:
1,948 (this installment)
Time Spent:
1 hour

Notes:
If
I’d just started this half an hour earlier, I’d have finished it. As it
is, I just have a teeny bit to write tomorrow and it will be done. I
don’t know why these take me so long, but it’s annoying that they do.
Still, I think they’re going to make some intriguing stories when I
finally finish them at the end of the year.

It’s 1:00am, and I’m off to bed…

May 20, 2013: Mr. Mysterious & THHG

Writing Session #1: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom. Suspense
Words written:  505
Total Words:  6,549 (all installments)
Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes: This could be a good sign – I decided to commandeer my non-fic writing breaks for the holiday serial stories I need to have done by next Monday, and today the words just started flying. I hope the rest of it goes this well. If it does, I should be able to finish this story during my late night writing session tonight…

Writing Session #2: The Handyman’s Harem Girl
Author/Genre: JD/rom. Suspense
Words written:  894
Total Words:  29,057
Time Spent:  45 minutes

Notes: Crap. Yes, I just blew through 800 words in 45 minutes. That’s a good sign, normally…except today I reached that last pivotal point in the story where suddenly, everything starts to become clear, and the end is in sight. This is the point in every draft where I want to ignore everything and anything around me and just write, write, write until I finally hit the end (which is inevitably farther off than I anticipate – every single time). Dang it. I absolutely cannot work more on this until next week, with the holiday serials due next Monday. Ack! I really hate this part…

Writing Session #3: Mr. Mysterious
Author/Genre: JD/rom. Suspense
Words written: 292
Total Words: 6,841
Time Spent:  45 minutes

Notes: Looks like my writing streak broke. Although the fact of the matter is, I’m often slower the later it gets…I start getting tired, and falling asleep while I’m writing. It’s harder to maintain focus, especially since tonight, my eyes are giving me fits (need to put gel in them). Still, much past 12:30 and I’m toast anymore, which is really too bad since the house is so very quiet right now.

Ah well. Such is life, and I’ll write more tomorrow. It’s 12:50am, and I’m off to bed…

May 16, 2013: KOG, Sprouted & Lemon Cream

Writing Session #1: Kitchen Org. Guide
Author/Genre: JD/non-fic
Words written: n/a
Total Words: n/a
Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes: Finally back to working on this! Worked on the planning
section a little more today – this will be the most comprehensive
section by far. I’m trying to be clear with my explanations, but as
concise as possible to avoid boring people to death. I’m not sure it’s
working – may need to go back and condense it more, but at least I’m
getting the ideas on paper. Good enough for now.

Writing Session #2: Sprouted
Author/Genre: Alex Westhaven/Horror
Words written:  538
Total Words:  3,058
Time Spent:  1 hour

Notes: I figured out a major plot point for this story today…and
it’s a doozey, if I do say so myself. Someone told me I’d better not
kill off the little girl (I have a propensity for killing fictional
children), and I needed to make that scene matter for some reason other
than just “being there”, and the solution turns out to be rather genius
on my main character’s part. It’s a short scene this week, but good, I
think.

Writing Session #3: Lemon Cream
Author/Genre: Trinity Marlow/Erotic romance
Words written:  508
Total Words:  3,359
Time Spent:  45 minutes

Notes: Moving right along…it was hard to even get as far as I did
on this, considering it’s late, and I just finished the scene for
Sprouted. Sometimes it’s difficult to switch gears/genres that fast. But
I wrote up to a pivot point, and while it’s a short scene for posting,
at least it’s something. There’s a lot of good information about our
heroine in this section too.

Now it’s 1:15am, and I’m headed to bed. Hooray for Friday! I might even get to work on my dragon story tonight…

May 15, 2013: English Breakfast (733 wds)

Writing Session #1: English Breakfast
Author/Genre: JD/Rom. suspense
Words written: 333
Total Words: 4598
Time Spent:  30 minutes

Notes:
I
had no idea where to go next with this, or sort of one, but not really.
So decided to just continue on from the last scene to find out how poor
Karen is holding up. Turns out she’s a pretty tough chick. Or I may
have watched too much Castle this week…either way, Karen’s not
talking. Good girl.

Writing Session #2: English Breakfast
Author/Genre: JD/Rom. suspense
Words written: 400
Total Words: 4,998
Time Spent:  45 minutes

Notes: Well
this is a pickle. Sometimes I think writing is a form of masochism…if
I kept count of all the corners I intentionally wrote my characters
into, people would probably think I did it on purpose for some sick kind
of kicks. I have no idea how my heroine is getting out of this one, but
I have enough for the scene, so I’ll find out next week, I guess.

Now it’s 12:52am, and time to head to bed. There’s a James Rollins book waiting with my name on it…

May 14, 2013: THHG & KOG

Writing Session #1: THHG
Author/Genre: JD/Rom. suspense

Words written: 204
Total Words: 28,163
Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes:I
had to finish this on a break at work because I fell asleep on it last
night, dang it. But this week’s installment is done anyways, and I have a
good idea of where things are headed, so that’s always a relief.
Hopefully I can use the afternoon break for a quick session on my
kitchen guide…

Writing Session #2: Kitchen Org. Guide

Author/Genre: JD/non-fic

Words written: n/a
Total Words: n/a

Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes:
good quick session this afternoon! I got a lot done on the planning
section, decided to add one more section at the end on re-evaluation,
and came up with a list of questions to help during the planning stage.
Good stuff.

May 13, 2013: Kitchen Org. & THHG

Writing Session #1: KOG
Author/Genre: JD/Non-Fic
Words written: n/a
Total Words: n/a
Time Spent:  15 minutes

Notes:
Started on the second section today…got a couple paragraphs done and the rest planned out. Not bad for a Monday..

Writing Session #2: THHG
Author/Genre: JD/Rom. suspense
Words written: 471
Total Words: 27,959
Time Spent:  1/2 hour

Notes: I got distracted tonight by Castle talk as well as insights into Debra and her motivations as a villain. I think the scene went well, all told, but I fell asleep working on it. Literally. I’ll have to finish it off during break time tomorrow.

It’s 1am, and time for bed…

May 9, 2013: Sprouted

Writing Session #1:  Sprouted
Author/Genre: Alex Westhaven/Horror
Words written: 578
Total words: 2509
Time Spent: 1 hour

Notes: I was tired when I started this scene – and a
bit disheartened that my writing week hasn’t gone at all like I wanted
it to. Nevertheless, I’m happy with the way this turned out. I’ve been
studying “villain protagonists” lately, and thinking a lot about them,
and I think this scene was pretty integral to establishing character and
sympathy, for whatever that’s worth.

Now it’ s 1:21am, and I’d better find bed before I fall asleep here at my desk….

May 8, 2013: KOG & English Breakfast

Writing Session #1: Kitchen Organizing Guide
Author/Genre: Jamie DeBree/Non-fic
Words Written: n/a
Total Words: n/a
Time Spent: 30 minutes

Notes: First section – done! I’ll need to go through it again and clarify, maybe add an image or three for illustration purposes, but the main content is good, I think. Tomorrow, on to the “planning” section…

Writing Session #2: English Breakfast
Author/Genre: Jamie DeBree/rom. suspense
Words written: 618
Total words: 4265
Time Spent: 1 hour

Notes: Poor Karen’s day didn’t really get any easier…actually, it kind of just got worse. But she’s where she needs to be now, and with any luck, I’m just about half-done with the story. So good stuff all around!

May 7, 2013: English Breakfast

Writing Session: English Breakfast

Author/Genre: Jamie DeBree/rom suspense

Words written: 508

Total Words: 3,647

Time Spent: 30 minutes

Notes:

This story’s moving along nicely, though not as quickly as I’d hoped it might. But, what do you do? And will Officer whats-his-name Wilson loosen up? Where the heck is Patrick? Will she kill him next time? These are the questions that keep me writing…

Writing Session #1: Kitchen Organizing Guide
Author/Genre: Jamie DeBree/Non-fic
Total words: n/a
Time Spent: 15 minutes

Notes:
Worked more on the
“Evaluation” section today, and did a little bit on the planning section
as well. I think I’ll have the first section done tomorrow…

Writing Session #2: The Handyman’s Harem Girl
Author/Genre: Jamie DeBree/rom suspense
Words Written: 769
Total Words: 27488
Time Spent: 1 hour

Notes: Slow to get warmed up with this, but it always
is for some reason. The middle “slog” I guess. But I finally figured out
the killer’s motivation, which is going to make it a lot easier from
here on out. It’s hard to know what a character will do next until you
know *why* they are doing anything. Once the why falls into place, so
does the rest of the story. Good stuff.
