Happy Halloween! If I were more of a “take pictures of everything” sort, you’d have a photo of our graveyard here now. Since I’m more of a “buy postcards while sight-seeing to avoid carrying a camera” sort, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. But if you want to see pics from our annual Halloween bash on the 22nd, head on over to our Scaryview Cemetery blog. One of our party guests was kind enough to get some really fabulous photos for us.
Tonight, the graveyard comes alive with a couple fog machines, animated props, lights, music, and of course the requisite candy. Sadly, I don’t think the weather plans on cooperating, but we’ll have a good time anyways.
Normally after the trick-or-treaters are all gone, I’d be settling in with my laptop anxiously waiting for the clock to strike midnight so I could embark on the great month-long journey known as NaNoWriMo. I’ll admit that *not* doing that this year has me a little weirded out. Alas, the final stage of the “new carpet project” happens tomorrow, so I’ll be moving most of our bedroom furniture to the living room instead. Good times.
It’s the beginning of a new month, and thus time for newsletters – if you aren’t signed up, add your email to the list now for Variety News and the Brazen Snake Monthly. Both are short, sweet, to the point, and include a nice subscriber-only coupon every month. A great way to keep up if you aren’t a regular blog reader!
As for the blog(s)? Business as usual this week.

Last week wasn’t too bad as far as productivity goes. I wrote all my serial scenes (some early, even), and my Rattles flash piece, but I didn’t manage to finish the Attic Toys story. Not sure if I’ll make the deadline on that or not – I have a ton of stuff to do today, and I’m not sure I’ll have the time. Ironically, I saw the perfect artwork for it on FB last night. Crazy and kinda fun, considering the rather bizarre subject matter…
The business goals didn’t fare as well – I got the important stuff done but that’s about it. I really, really need a few days to catch up on the record-keeping side of things. Here’s hoping I can get that done very soon. The personal goals fared far better, and most of those are done (or nearly done). Still have some party clean-up to do, and I’ll be spending most nights this week putting Halloween to bed. But if I do a little every night, I should be able to find bookkeeping time this weekend.
Goals for the Week
- 5 serial scenes
- Finish the Attic Toys sub (hopefully!)
- Read/respond to all final Rattles submissions
- Post new Rattles prompt
- Spend a few hours on bookkeeping
- Update back matter on a few ebook titles
- Format and upload Nov. Rattles anthology
- Start formatting new publication – Brothers in Betrayal by Heidi Sutherlin
- Send out copies of An Elemental Wind when Goodreads contest ends
- Put Halloween to bed
- Start new housekeeping routines
- Put bedroom back together after new carpet is finished
- Clean out garage so we can park there (no scraping windows!)
That’s it for me this week. If you’re doing NaNo, good luck and godspeed!! Don’t forget to save some candy for yourself tonight…
