Weekly News & Goals – 1/31/11

My top news today is that it’s payday at the day job. This enables me to go book shopping again, and since there are a few new releases I simply must have, I’m insanely happy about this. I get paid from Amazon today as well, but alas, sales were just starting to pick up last October/November, so while it’s extraordinarily fun to see money from book sales deposited into my business account, it’s more of a token than anything else at this point. One I’m more than happy to accept, of course, to be put back into the business.

In any case – what am I buying today? In no particular order:

Reveal Me by Cari Quinn (erotica)

Dark Running by M Cid D’Angelo  (dark urban fantasy)

Save My Soul by Zoe Winters (paranormal romance)

Silver Thaw by Amy Rose Davis (fantasy)

I’m also going to be ordering some “cover cards” for Tempest & Desert Heat. These will be available for those who buy ebooks, but also would like a physical representation with a signature without having to buy the print copy. They’ll be limited edition, just 20 available for each book on a first come, first serve basis. More on that when I get them in.

This Week on The Variety Pages

Tuesday: Ch. 43 of The Biker’s Wench

Wednesday: Exploring Romantic Suspense – The Heroine

Friday: Ch. 44 of The Biker’s Wench

My apologies for the late newsletter this month – I got a little confused on my dates. Variety News will be sent out later today…

Goal Reports

Last week I managed to accomplish all of my writing goals, which I’m quite pleased about. Five serial scenes, one scene for The Minister’s Maid, ten pages to my local crit group and one beta read/crit finished. It’s not often I actually complete all the goals on any given list, so I’m pretty proud of that one. I have the basic plot/title for the fourth Fantasy Ranch novel too, which is fun.

As for the business goals, I completed about half. The web sites are updated, I wrote a guest post, I submitted Desert Heat to a review site, and I started working on the contracts I need to write. Naturally when you focus on certain areas of life, others tend to fall by the wayside so my personal goals were toast last week. This week will be slightly more balanced, as I’m now finally caught up from the book launch and settling back into my normal routine again.

Goals for the Week

Writing

  • 5 Serial scenes

  • 1 scene for TMM

  • A couple extra scenes for my erotica serial/short story if possible

Business

  • Order more business cards, mini-cards & cover cards

  • Finish the contracts I’m writing

  • Finalize prize list for Valentine’s Day contests

Personal

  • Workout twice

  • Pay bills

  • Sneak in extra laundry

  • Read a couple books

That’s my plan…what are you up to this week? Anything fun & relaxing? Reading any good books?

I’ll still never know how you manage to get so much done in so little time. I keep reading hoping to pick something up.

    What’re ‘cover cards’?

    I just keep moving, Avery…and I don’t sleep much. 😉

Cover cards will be full-color postcards with a book cover on the front, and the back cover & blurb on the back, signed by me for those readers who don’t want to buy print books (ebook readers), but still like to collect signatures. Just something fun for readers (well, I hope it will be fun…it’s an experiment for me). I got the idea from Vivian Arend, one of my fave. erotica authors (and all around nice gal).
