Weekly News & Goals 7/26/10

I know you’ve all been waiting patiently, so first without further delay, I’d like to announce the winner of Kristen Lamb’s new book, We Are Not Alone: The Writer’s Guide to Social Media. And the winner is…

Joy!

Congratulations! I’ve emailed Joy and Kristen so she can get her free signed copy. For the rest of you, if you didn’t happen to catch Kristen’s reply, she has very generously offered to sell any of the other commenters a signed copy at cost plus shipping – thanks so much, Kristen! What a great offer.

Now that the excitement’s over, on with the rest of this week’s news:

Variety News (my writing/blog newsletter) is switching to bi-weekly as of, well, now. The next newsletter will be out August 8th. I’ll be publishing a second newsletter on the alternate weeks for my other blog, Beyond the Words , which I’ll have set up by next weekend. So you can get Variety News for blog and writing news, and then Beyond the Words for business & marketing news in between if you’re so inclined. Watch the business blog for more information later in the week.

This Week on The Variety Pages

Tuesday: Construction Zone – Twisting the Plot
Wednesday:
Everyday Romance – Online/Offline Connections
Thursday:
Author Interview – Jeffe Kennedy
Friday:
Chapter 30 of Indelibly Inked
Saturday:
Notable Posts & Reads

Thursday on Beyond the Words – One Writer’s Business Plan

Goals Report

I didn’t make too many goals last week – and didn’t reach two. The Biker’s Wench is on hold for one more week, because I simply must finish the Tempest type-in. Chapter 3 will be up next weekend, for sure. As for Tempest, I’m not half-way through as I’d hoped…because it’s taking longer than I’d thought it would. I have a couple days at home this week, and am hoping to use much of that time for these revisions.

Goals for the Week

Writing

  • Finish Tempest revisions

  • Chapter 30 of Indelibly Inked

  • Chapter 3 of The Biker’s Wench

  • Set up the new newsletter

Personal

  • Menu plan/exercise (that’s it – easy week)

That’s my story, what’s yours? Anything fun going on? Read any good books lately?

Congrats, Joy! How much would Kristen’s book be with shipping by the way? I knew if I didn’t win it I was going to still buy it. I also wanted to wish you luck this week, Jamie, with your goals. I wrote a blog post about my generalized goals, but I haven’t been really meeting them the last week because I’ve been pretty busy. Just need to stay motivated lol. Thank you for having the drawing, Jamie!

  2. Carol

OMG, Jamie didn’t meet 2 of her goals, she really is human! 🙂

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist. The way you manage your time and get so much done I was beginning to think you were superwoman! I really admire your ability to juggle so many writing goals plus a full time job and a personal life.

Yesterday I read “Secret Life of a Vampire” by Kerrelyn Sparks. I really love her vampire series.

Today, no reading until I get my writing done. *sigh*

Ava, you can email Kristen at writerchik74@yahoo.com. I’m not sure what the cost is, because she hasn’t billed me for my copies yet either. 🙂 And you’re most welcome…glad you stopped in and participated! Best of luck to you with your goals as well. 🙂

Oh good grief, Carol. LOL In any given week I only meet about half of my goals…unfortunately this week, the goals I didn’t meet were ones I really wanted to. I’m no superwoman…I’m just really, really motivated to make this writing career work so I can do it full time. That requires…well…work. 😉

Fun on the book – I’ll have to check it out! Good luck with your writing today…I’m off work, so I’ll be right there with you. 🙂

Hey – tried to view your blog, but it’s by invitation only. Feel free to send me an invite if you’d like another reader…if not, that’s perfectly okay too. 🙂

7 days, 5 goals, totally doable!
