Weekly News & Goals 9/27/10

Thanks to everyone who dropped in and participated in Michelle’s blog tour last week! And thanks to Michelle for visiting us…I love hosting writing buddies. If you’re interested, email me – I have most Thursdays open for guest posts.

After you read the serial chapter on Friday, come on over to Writer Revealed where Dolly is interviewing me for her “Why I Write” series. Actually, don’t wait until my post on Friday – go early and read through the previous posts. Great stuff from some fabulous writers already up there, including Dolly’s own posts.

Goal Reports

I am behind in a pretty spectacular way right now. It’s actually kind of amusing, when I’m not trying to figure out how to get everything done. That said, I did get a lot of things done last week…I’m half-way through the mark-ups for Desert Heat (which is half-less than I wanted to be), I got nothing new done on the short story, and nothing new done on TBW. So you see my problem. And yet, I’m still optimistic, so that’s something.

As far as personal goals go…I got the reviews done that I wanted to, and finished A Reaper’s Tale, which is good and bad because I want more, but Adam doesn’t have more out yet. Apparently I’m not the only one who can’t write a new book every month. Sad, that. The Halloween things are coming along, but invitations still aren’t done and need to go out this week, so that’s a major deadline this week for me. No where to go but forward though, right? Onward!

Goals for the Week

  • Finish the Desert Heat mark-ups and start the actual revisions.

  • One more chapter of TBW

  • Work as I can on the short story

  • Collect and organize financial records regarding the writing business (No, I haven’t done this. Yes, I’m a horrible bookkeeper…and that has to stop).

  • Fill out and file papers for my own little micro-publishing company

  • Revise business plan if I have time.

  • Finish and mail Halloween invitations

  • Catch up the laundry

  • 3 workouts for the week

  • Continue working on party decorations

  • Continue reading Widow’s Tale by Maureen A. Miller (good so far – intriguing!)

And that’s it for me! What are you up to this week? Read any good books lately? Released any books lately? Payday is Thursday…

Looks like you’ve got another super busy week planned! I’ve often thought that it would be nice if our days were stretched by a few hours, but then we’d probably just find more things to fill them with. 🙂

I’m right there with you on the business stuff – only I am a good bookkeeper. I keep track of everything. Excel and QuickBooks are my friends.

  2. Adam

I’m working on it, Jamie! 😉

  3. Brooklyn Ann

Your goal posts are so inspiring! I look forward to reading your interview.

I need to add “catch up on Carol’s Space Opera” to that list… 😉

I have Quicken, but I don’t like it for personal use. Counter intuitive for me. I’m thinking the open office version of Excel will do nicely. Then I can make it make sense to me. LOL

Glad to hear it, Adam. 🙂

Thanks B – it was a fun interview…Dolly has great questions!
