Writer’s Log: November 1, 2013

Writing Session 1: MacKenzie Saves the World
Author/Genre: JD/sweet contemp. romance
Words written: 174

Total words: 174
Time Spent:  15 minutes (midnight NaNo start)

Notes: And so it begins…the first words of a new draft are born, just like that. Well, with me trying to nod off after every sentence, but no need to quibble about that, right? I’ll be blogging this whole draft for the month at https://comicshopromance.com – if you’re so inclined as to read along as I write, head over there nightly (late-nightly) for that day’s work on this draft for the month of November…

Writing Session 2: MacKenzie Saves the World
Author/Genre: JD/sweet contemp. romance
Words written: 307

Total words: 481
Time Spent:  40 minutes (4:40pm – 5:20pm)

Notes: Well, I’d be a lot farther along right now if I hadn’t written a decent chunk, and then had my hungry dog come up and bump my usb drive out of the already loose port it was connected to, effectively losing all that lovely exposition. Dang it. So then I had to find a tighter port, reconnect the drive and rewrite everything I’d just written. Thankfully it wasn’t all that much yet. *sigh*

Hopefully I can get more in tonight, but we’ll see. I have a date with Dunning Manor later, so might have to catch up and keep going on this tomorrow…

Writing Session 3: Dunning Manor
Author/Genre: JD/paranormal romance
Words written: 699

Total words: 6,939
Time Spent:  20 minutes (Office Hours: 11pm – 11:30pm)

Notes: Tonight’s session was good – probably because I knew I didn’t have time to mess around. I decided what needed to happen next in the story, started writing, and wrote until the clock ran out on this particular session. I really could have kept going for awhile yet – I know what happens next. But I’m so far behind on the NaNo draft already that I figured I’d better leave off in a good spot to pick back up on this, and get back to that for the night (plus I needed to tuck my hubby in, and deal with the last of the chores…hate when life gets in the way, right?).

I’ll be looking forward to the next section of this next week though. Poor Katie’s got some serious trouble coming her way…and Thomas is going to have a heck of a time saving the poor girl.

Writing Session 4: MacKenzie Saves the World
Author/Genre: JD/sweet contemp. romance
Words written: 141

Total words: 622
Time Spent:  30 minutes (midnight – 12:30am )

Notes: Yes, you’re reading those numbers right. I’m really, incredibly tired, and while I know what’s coming next, I just start falling asleep every time I try to type it out. And no, the story isn’t boring. I’m just that tired, I think.

So, I’m off to bed, and I’ll worry about catching up tomorrow…
